Summary: Sheriff Wydell is gonna stop these serial killers once and for all. He tracks down the “Rejects” to their home and attacks but Otis, Baby and Captain Spaulding escape. Now with only one of their flock in custody, the Sheriff will do anything to put their murderous spree to a stop. And it won’t be without a fight.
Overall: I really hoped that Zombie’s sequel was better than his first offering…and I sorta got that this time. But not by much. The film is really just a “gore-fest” with Zombie doing all that he can to gross and shock viewers into forgetting he still doesn’t have the concept on how to direct a movie. The film’s mere plot is to have a vengeful Sheriff try and track down 3 wanted criminals. The criminals take their time outlasting the Sheriff and in the meantime kill and torture everyone in their path. That’s it. That’s the plot. But we get basically no follow up on why they’ve been named after The Marx Brothers characters, what happened to Dr. Satan, and what exactly everyone has been up to and why. It’s just a 100 minute effort to “shock and awe” you. And I can buy that...fine, Zombie does a nice job with the effects, but then totally blows the film but letting Bill Moseley’s hair blow in front of his face during the entire film. It’s so annoying that during the “best” scenes that frankly Mosely can’t possibly see what he’s doing... And the ending…nice and Hollywood-ish... Zombie totally sold himself out to a “Thelma and Louise” ending that’s been done before. But given this “genius” title people label him with...frankly I’d have loved to see him cap his “mess” (I mean “film”) with something unique...different. The deleted scenes and bloopers don’t help...except to remind you what the theatrical version was missing. Frankly...it almost ruins the film because you watch that and think “oh yeah, what happened to...” Comparison: House of 1000 Corpses meets Natural Born Killers |
