House II: The Second Story (1987)

Jessie McLaughlin and his girlfriend Kate move into his deceased parents' home. After Jessie gets settled in, he snoops around the basement and finds some ancient photos of his great, great grandfather Jessie McLaughlin who was an outlaw in the wild, wild west. “Gramps” is seen in one photo holding onto a crystal skull, while Gramps' partner "Slim" Reeser stands in the background, seemingly fuming. It seems that Slim and Gramps had a falling out, and Gramps ended up with the mystical skull. Well the skull held the key to eternal life and when Jessie Jr. goes looking for it, he finds a great-great-grandfather still alive. But in a way, so is Slim and soon the house will oversee a great battle for control of the skull.

Overall: Barely connected to the first film, this is even more comedy than the first film. I’d wager there is nothing scary about this film at all….and if anything all the creatures are intended for laughs. The film is really all about the group placing the skull in a very insecure location and constantly trying to get it back from people stealing it. Never once do they place guards, such as themselves, around it. Nor do they try and hide it. And frankly, they run after it so often, this all gets old. It’s a very silly film that really gets on your nerves.
