The Host/Gwoemul (2006)

Summary: Gang-Du has just discovered this mutated creature running though the area around the local river, and worse yet, it has captured his daughter. Now he and his family will do whatever it takes to find the creature and the child, no matter what!           Overall: If there was one thing I absolutely loved about this movie…it was the creature and any shots with the creature. It’s just sooo impressive the scenes, the shots they got, and frankly the effects were brilliant. Great stuff here!!!           The film’s problem is anything not involving the creature. It’s a long film, with way too much paranoia, conspiracy and anti-American sentiment for me. Much of it was unnecessary filler which could have been cute out easily. The film shows us some great monster stuff and that’s where the plot should have stayed!           The DVD included 23 minutes of deleted scenes, 4 minutes of deleted fiction news clips and 5 minutes of director apologies for actors whose only appearance was in the deleted scenes (or were unrecognizable in the film).           Comparison: Jurassic Park meets X-Men
