Beast from Haunted Cave (1960)

Four gangsters decide to steal some gold out of a safe in a ski resort town. The plan was to set off a bomb in an old mine to distract the town as they robbed the bank. However a creature resided in the cave and after the cave gets blown up, the creature looks for the revenge the town will never have, on the bad guys.

Overall: If one thing surprised me, it’s the respect this film gets on the Internet. Some people found the creature scary, others liked the plot or the acting, and still others found the film quite fun and likeable. I say to all those people...“Did you accidentally cut and paste the wrong review with this film’s title?” The film is very slow…even at like 70 minutes, it feels longer. The film has a ton of “filler” scenes where people are just walking or sitting or talking about nothing in particular. Some might even call it a prelude to “Seinfeld” in that regard. The creature is very weak in the “scare” department. At times, it resembles some fluffy, ghostly spider-like creature with giant hooks for arms. There’s basically no explanation about the creature’s past or what it is or why it exists. It’s really a film about the bad guys and how a few want to go “legit” now and the trials and tribulations of that…and by the way, there’s a monster chasing them. Ugh!
