Slaughtered (2005)

Harold Parkinson has a website on the web called "Slaughtered Sheep.” He hires model, photographs them and places the pictures on his website. Did I forget to mention, he never lets them leave in one piece? See, Harold is killing every lady who visits him. But one day, he’ll get his “just desserts” but in a fashion he never expected. The victims start to “victimize” Harold and these 2 will battle and I guarantee you, it’s not gonna be pretty.

Overall: For an independent film, there’s no question this film ranks up there with the best in terms of effects. I’ve bashed a pretty penny worth of films with awful effects and the number one phrase I use is: “If you can’t afford good effects, don’t use bad effects.” This film by Anthony Doublin specializes in great effects on its budget and doesn’t disappoint. In addition, I was quite pleased with the camera work. Again, another plus because the film distances itself from the usual indie horror in having experts at the realm. If the film has a flaw, it’s the acting. As quick as the camera can be at times, the cast sometimes just doesn’t perform up to par. But that won’t take away from the overall pleasure of the film. It’s worth a watching. Mr. Doublin has shown us something special, let’s see what he can do with it.
