Bowery at Midnight (1942)

Dr. Brenner moonlights as a College Professor, a soup-kitchen manager and an underworld crime boss. Eventually his henchmen get out of control but that’s when he turns them into zombies and they soon try to turn on him.

Overall: A truly forgettable film that explains very little. The creation of zombies, how they got to be the “un-dead” and later how one miraculously becomes normal again, are never explained. The film makes little sense and frankly, Bela Lugosi’s character never tries to pretend well enough to do any of those jobs well. He never seems concerned that other people might recognize him. The film is just a mess, despite his usual brilliance. Skip it.
