Revolt of the Zombies (1937)

During WWI, a Cambodian priest helps the allied war effort by raising zombies to help fight in the war. The allies want the secret but the priest refuses to divulge it, so they put him in jail. That doesn’t last long as he is soon murdered. So, an expedition is sent to Cambodia to try and find the secret of zombification. However, one member of the expedition, Clifford Grayson, announces his engagement to Claire Duval, and colleague Armand is jealous. He soon discovers the secret to creating zombies and then uses it to upset the engagement.

Overall: The film doesn’t have a good reputation and frankly, once you watch it...you’ll see why. It’s a slow film that just talks and talks but doesn’t seem to go anywhere, until the last 10 minutes. And even then the film barely exceeds 1 hour, but feels like two. And even with all this, it’s not the undead coming to life...it’s simply “willpower.” So anyone and everyone can come under the control of the person who has mastered it, which makes it just so unrealistic or even for that matter, make sense. Skip this one.
