In 1906 Professor Alexander Saxton is the leader of an expedition team of the Royal Geological Society and discovers a creature buried in the ice, deep inside Chinese territory. This creature is half man and half ape and lived 2 million years ago. Professor Saxton thinks he's made the find of the century and decides to take it home, using the Trans-Siberian railway. But also on board is his rival, Dr. Wells, who can’t help but be curious as to what Saxton has discovered. Soon the creature will melt, escape and start to kill everyone on board. Can anyone stop it?
Overall: An obvious variation of the film “The Thing from Another World.” What differentiates this film from others is that complete lack of any knowledge of science, by the movie writers. Essentially we come to find out that the monster can erase people’s brains but staring at them. To recognize the brain is empty, you can cut open the skull and look at a brain without wrinkles. In addition, you can tell what the monster knows but peering at his eyes. In fact, but leaking eye fluid onto a microscope we can see the same images it has seen throughout its existence, such as the Earth from space. The science in this film is quite dumb and illogical and frankly a few lines/scenes will actually make you laugh out loud (intentionally or not). If you want to see this film, it’ll be because it stars Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing and Telly Savales. If you want to watch a film whose plot makes no sense, this is the film for you. If you want a smart film that treats it’s viewers with respect...run from this one! Comparison: The Thing meets Terror Train |
