The Legend of Hell House (1973)

A team consisting of a physicist, his wife, a female medium and the only survivor of the previous visit by researchers are sent to Hell House to prove life after death. Every other team has failed either by going mad or getting murdered inside the walls. One more time people will enter the walls, hoping to catch a glimpse. They might just not like what they see.

Overall: The biggest complaint anyone makes about the film is the similarities to the 1963 film "The Haunting." In that film and in the 1999 re-make, 4 people go into a haunted house to see if ghosts really do exist. In this film made in 1973, it's about 3 people who go into a house to see if ghosts really exist. Both supposedly based on stories, they are quite similar ideas but end up with difference by the time the credits roll. This film is an "ok" film. The "battery box" that the Doctor uses looked cheesy from the start as did the attacking cat. I had to pause, rewind and slow to get full effect of the cheesiness. At regular speed you can totally tell the attack is weak but slowing it down, it's outright thrown from off screen and drove deep into left field. In 1973, the Cubs could have used the female medium in the lineup. Anyway, I thought the acting was quite decent even though parts of the story were either silly or just not followed up on enough.
