The Last Horror Movie (2003)

Max wants to make a statement. He wants to make people think and appreciate life...and he wants to do it while killing people. People die so other people may appreciate life. And if people aren’t fully appreciating life...maybe they shouldn’t be living.

Overall: The problem with this film is the obvious connection to “Man Bites Dog.” It really does copy basically the same ideas and themes from the movie and it’s difference can basically be...”this one is in English.” Frankly it really can be that simple of a description. But I do think this movie is a good one. The character of Max is trying to look deeper into each person and trying to probe why people are the way they are, think the way they think and live the way they live. The film tries to be deeper than it’s foreign counterpart. I liked the movie and found it pleasantly surprising. However, if you watched “Man Bites Dog” you may not be able to get over the similarities and many people dislike this film because of this stuff. If you had to choose one film over the other, I’d say rent the other film. But even after all that, I’d still recommend watching this film. It’s got some good ideas and worth the time.
