Vampire Sisters

Dawn, Tasha & Stacy are sisters who have opened up their own adult website hoping to lure paying customers to their home so that they can become vampiric fodder. The girls are doing their best to eat their fans but eventually their past will catch up to them. A couple local cops have an idea of what is going on...and there is gonna be a big fight for survival.

Overall: One of the best parts of the DVD was the “making of” featurette in which the directors talks about what he wanted out of the film. Basically this was a fast, super-low budget (under $5000) attempt at entertainment. Low on effects but high on fun and entertainment. It’s hard to bash a film that knows it’s low budget and still does the best it can. For all of that, I admire the film. They had a goal and understood their budget and their audience. However...the story and acting need lots of help.

The film’s premise is the website and when customers spend enough money, they get invited to the ladies house for fun and games. However, I find it quite interesting that when the ladies send an e-mail for someone to visit, the invitee shows up within an hour. Not quite realistic given the Internet in today’s world. And frankly, we see/learn so little of their website to even know what these consumers are purchasing. The ladies do nothing to enhance their website. No videos or pic sessions and it’s not a voyeuristic house either. What these people are actually spending their money on is not ever disclosed.

And the acting...well my main problem is the fight scenes. I’ll grant you that none of these people are comparable to Jackie Chan but frankly, each person is basically waiting for the other person to make their move. The fight scenes are way too fake to be believable. They just don’t react in a realistic way.

I gotta say that the casting for “Stacy” was odd. These ladies are supposed to be sisters yet one is 6 feet tall and the rest are about 5 foot. And as for the ever precocious Isabelle…let’s just say that she’s not “Misty Mundae.”

I normally would also rail against the pathetic “effects” scenes and if it wasn’t for the “making of” where I saw how much time and energy was spent on Tasha’s tongue, I’d have ripped this film for this too. But they really put a lot of time into this...so my advice would have been...find another, less cheesy way to have dealt with that scene. You didn’t need the cgi effects at all…given the fact this was the only time you used it, it felt way out of place. It’s a low budget film that consistently reflects that fact, until you toss in an obvious fake mutated tongue that, given the plot, didn’t need to be there. Stick with what is appropriate!

The film is not the greatest picture in the world but I do think with the bloopers and other things, the film is worthwhile for 1 viewing. I do think the features save the DVD from being a total bust.
