Dr. Adrian is trying to cure polio to save a neighbor friend of his, Frances. However in order to complete his experiments, he needs spinal fluid from human beings. The escape by a circus ape allows Adrian the distractions he needs to commit crime sin the name of science.
Overall: I might have bought the idea for the film if it wasn’t for the silly ape costume stuff. So basically the good doctor kills the ape, then pretends he is the ape in order to get away with experiments. Explain how he magically just started wearing the ape fur? We have an ape carcass and all the grossness involving skinning and whatever else...and frankly, it’s not remotely believable. I liked the ideas in the movie of the doc using the ape’s presence to mask his own work but really, it was a poor product. Still love Boris Karloff but the film was quite weak.
