Confessions of a Serial Killer (1985)

- written November 1999

Police capture Daniel Ray Hawkins and once at the station, Daniel has no problem talking about his crimes. He confesses to more than a handful of crimes and the Sheriff is torn between believing everything he says and discounting him as a lunatic. Some of the confessions are for people who are still alive but others have some basis in fact. Eventually Daniel takes the police to the scene of one of the crimes and we finally realize the depths to which Daniel will go.

Overall: The story itself is broken and scattered but the scenes are somewhat interesting. It sure can make one realize not only how brief life can be but how we ourselves can take a little bit more precaution to ensure our own safety. But if you want to see one film based on Henry Lee Lucas’ career…this isn’t it. Go get “Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer.”
