Andre is a member of Napoleon’s French army who has gotten lost and ended up at the castle of Baron von Leppe. However Andre continues to see a young girl whom everyone else insists does not exist. Andre won’t leave until he uncovers the mystery but that very mystery could end up killing him.
Overall: An all-star production of Jack Nicholson and Boris Karloff, directed by Francis Ford Coppola and produced by Roger Corman. It took 4 days to shoot, on the same set as a prior film “The Raven” and even starred Jack’s only wife. The secret is kind of interesting but not too much info for the audience to guess at it. However a nice early role for Dick Miller. Nice film but maybe a little too old for those looking for good horror films with big-name stars. Comparison: House on Haunted Hill meets A Few Good Men |
