Maniac (1980)

Frank is a lonely man who still can’t get over the fact that his mother was so abusive to him. Now as an adult, he still want his mom to realize how much he suffered, regardless of who he has to take it out on.

Overall: Decent 80’s horror film that is well-known for it’s graphic scenes. Tom Savini went over the top with this movie and got a nice career out of it. It’s a good film in depicting the mental instability of Frank and the demons he must fight off. The ending is a classic and nice, although it is silly too. The award-winning song by Michael Sembello “Maniac” was originally written for this film, which already has a decent score. However the song got held back until “Flashdance” in 1983. 2 of the actresses/victims are 70’s porn stars so for those enjoying that sort of thing, maybe you want to find this film.
