Bram Stoker is taking a leisurely country ride with his father when his carriage is attacked by disguised attackers. Although Bram kills one assailant he is kidnapped by the rest. Seems his captors are a group of “Amazon” type women who are just sick of men and hope to rid the world of them, one incident at a time. These ladies also happen to cohabitate with rats in the town of St. Cecile and you can guarantee that if a big group of rats are present, a bunch of scantily-clad female assassins won’t be too far behind.
Overall: When comparing Stoker’s original story and this movie, one realizes Roger Corman was just looking to find a way to get topless women and rats into a story that they could capitalize on the name. The film bears no resemblance to the story except that there are rats and Stoker was involved. His story centered around a man who stopped off for a pint (of bitter) in the countryside, hears a story from an old lady and gets chased by some ghosts/assassins. Turns out that everyone has been trying to find this group but even then they once again fail but Stoker lived. The film centers around the main character being kidnapped and being kept alive to chronicle the Women’s efforts at saving other women and killing women, and oh by the way a few rats show up. It really seemed both in the story & the film, the rats were included only because of the title. Whereas the rats played a small role in Corman’s film, the topless/bikini-clad women were the main focus. If you want some T&A, go for this film. Maria Ford is in it as are Nikki Fritz & Linnea Quigley (supposedly). Comparison: Stormswept meets Amazon Women on the Moon |
