Horror Hotel (1960)

Elizabeth Selwyn was burned at the stake as a witch on March 3rd, 1692. Now, 250 years later, a college student, Nan, is going to the same town of Whitewood to write about witchcraft for Professor Driscoll’s class. But not everything is what it seems since much of Whitewood’s residents are dead and her friends may never find Nan ever again.

Overall: Well if you don’t immediately recognize that the Hotel’s owner simply spelled her name backwards then you should stop watching horror films. The key to this whole witchcraft, spell, sacrifice stuff is “Candlemas” or as I prefer, “Day Before Groundhog Day.” The story is decent and the acting is ok but they got way too much use out of the fog machine. An interesting connection here is with “Psycho.” Girl goes along to check into a hotel, ends up being killed and boyfriend comes to visit. There are a few more connections but that’s the basic story and they are very similar.
