Cat's Eye (1985)

- written February 2004

3 stories surrounding the appearance of a cat.

1)          Quitter’s, Inc. – Richard Morrison is having a tough time quitting his smoking habit until he visits a place that guarantees you will quit and can back it up.

2)          The Ledge – a wealthy man who’s on the wrong side of a love triangle with his wife looks for revenge with “the other man” but this isn’t a cakewalk.

3)          The General – a cat who’s been all across the nation trying to save this girl from a troll-like creature finally gets there in time but will it prevail?

Overall: Although the last 2 stories are forgettable, the first one is an all-time classic. And it’s not that Stephen King wrote that one story better than any other but the acting of Alan King & James Woods was just brilliant. You can really ignore the effects in the last 2 stories because they are pretty lame and the “cat” connection doesn’t really exist as it is only there for the 3rd story. And notice that Drew Barrymore also appears in some place in all 3 stories. The movie is worth watching for the first story but the rest is just something to fast-forward through – the effects are so cheesy in the last one, I’m betting you won’t able to sit through it.
