Carmilla Karnstein is a female vampire who preys on young woman hoping to satiate her thirst and create eternal lovers for herself. However as she goes from family to family and taking away the most nubile of young ladies, she is creating more and more enemies. Soon she will run into the wrong one, The General. He’ll do anything to stop her and this battle might be one for the ages.
Overall: A first in the “Carmilla” series and the beginning of a great career for Ingrid Pitt. What shocked me more than anything was the sheer amount of nudity for such an old film. Normally stuff I see with Christopher Lee and/or Peter Cushing is tame but the way these women were flaunting their stuff took me a bit off guard. Definitely a nice beginning to the lesbian vampire genre. Comparison: Dracula Prince of Darkness meets Vampyros Lesbos |
