Seems that everyone wants to get into Johns Hopkins Medical School. The only difference is what they are willing to do to get in. Gabriel Higgs has had great grades for as long as he can remember and the family motto is to be a Johns Hopkins Doctor. But Gabriel has trouble on the MCAT by experiencing the ultimate in scantron nightmares: he skipped a line. Before he can do much, the bell rings and Gabriel has an easy "F." This ruins his shot into the only school his dad will accept. He knows though there is still the interview which could cement or destroy his chances into the school. But he loses that when he can't answer the ultimate question: "Why here?" He finds out later on that he is tentatively accepted to Johns Hopkins but he's on the waiting list. After some help from computer hackers, he finds out he's 6th in line. He devises a strategy to bribe the top 5 applicants to drop out so as to make sure he's number one so if anyone accepted chooses to go elsewhere he's a lock. So he starts one by one with the 5 applicants. One is a classmate of his, Kirby Watts. He manages to get a date with her but no dice on the bribery. So he moves on to Rupert but he is so bummed himself he'll take the bribe to feel better. One down, 3 to go and Randall is the next on the list. He too agrees for the cash but demands even more money. After sabotaging his lab partner's experiment, he also becomes a casualty as he burns to death in the lab. Gabriel meets with Amanda as his 4th victim and she too accepts the cash, but ends up later poisoned by some pizza. Finally, he makes it to visit Valerie who is a library helper. But before she can accept, she meets her death. It is then that Gabriel figures out what's happening but trust me, getting out of jail will be easier than dealing with the murderer.
Overall: Weak film that seemed to have an interesting story but isn't everyone making films about killing students to get a higher education ("The Curve," "Dead Man on Campus")? I thought with what the movie held, there would be more romance and sex and the lack of it made the film disappointing. Tons of stars in this but most performances are very short.
