Eric Seaver is a victim of child abuse and now years later, he’s having flashbacks and visions. Eric is now about to lose his sanity. Now with the aid of a demon and angel on his shoulder, he must decide to between right and wrong as each dead body starts to turn up.
Overall: A low-budget film out of Michigan but like all low-budget films, it fails in the very place it’s supposed to be superior. Most indie films suffer in effects since they don’t have the $$ to afford such but usually are accompanied by good stories and character development. Despite the appearance of “Leatherface” (Gunnar Hansen), the film only seems to show how Eric’s insanity has gotten more obvious…as opposed to evolving. The whole “demon/angel” idea was nothing more than taking some cheesy cartoon ideas and putting them to use in film. It supposedly took 9 years to make this into production but basically in 9 years they should have made it a more tight & concise idea - it’s inexcusable to have this much time and put out a product this weak. I even saw a boom mike! As for the deleted/alternate/extended scenes, well the deleted scenes had no audio. Not sure if a flaw with the actual DVD disc or the DVD as a product. The alternate scenes didn’t really help the story at all. However I did like the extended scenes that would have allowed more into the son/step-father relationship. This movie has its publicity due to one of the producers (Bruce Campbell) but I think it does him a disservice to be connected to this movie. Comparison: Milo meets Stepdaughter |
