Hank, Phil, Gordon, Mikey & Jeff make a company that cleans asbestos out of older buildings and they are visiting a closed insane asylum to do their job. Once inside, the movie starts to play games with them and the tale of a girl who had some untrue memories of rapes which had caused the shutdown of the asylum years ago. her story will provide what the 5 employees need to get through the day…but the asylum has its own plans for them!
Overall: The ending is the only reason to catch this film. Once again I failed the test of “Don’t judge a book by its cover” test - I judged the film by movie reviews on the ending. Once you are done viewing this, you’ll agree the ending is about the only thing that keeps you watching. It’s definitely a spin-off of sorts from “Blair Witch Project” with everything that is going on with a bit of “Event Horizon” thrown in, with what went on before these guys showed up. As for the real ending I really think that there are multiple ways to take it. . (SPOILERS) . . . . . . . . . . . Some can take the ending as Gordon simply reliving the past and needing this experience to come to grips with it (ala "Jacob’s Ladder"). Another way would be to just use the film “Fallen” in that Gordon got possessed by a demon and finished everyone off from there. Or you could even interpret the ending as the audience simply getting “mind-f***ed” in that the directors use a story of a girl being possessed to confuse you with Gordon’s own spousal abuse and neither really being connected. Any way you take it, it is a movie worth watching multiple times. Comparison: Jacob’s Ladder meets Blair Witch Project |
