Lisa (1990)

Lisa likes prank calling older men but this time she’s hung-up on the wrong guy. A handsome neighbor of hers has piqued her interest and calling him is going to turn dangerous. He seemed to have a real strict policy when he dumps women…dead and in the dumpster. So when he finds out who Lisa really is, he’s gonna take some revenge on her.

Overall: Cheryl Ladd (Charlie’s Angels) and Stacy Keenan (MY Two Dads) each had one nice TV series but never could parlay that into anything and this film didn’t help. It’s slow at times because they end up talking way too often on the phone and you’d have though the bad guy would have just found ways to get her (having phone tapped or traced or something). The concept also is not possible in 2003 anymore without tweaking it around. Most people either don’t answer their phone due to telemarketers or have voice mail now – cell phones might work but half this film bases its suspense on answering machines, which so few people have anymore. If you take one thing from this film, pay attention to the character of Mary – played by Elizabeth Gracen, she appeared in playboy and claimed a romance with Governor Clinton.

Comparison: Jerky Boys meets Taxi Driver
