During WWII, the Nazi’s invaded a particular French town which was none too happy with surrendering. So in Anti-De Gaulle fashion, they fought back the Nazi’s and sent the dead Nazi troops into the local lake so no one would find out. It’s years later and these Nazi’s are really the un-dead...zombies looking for flesh to feed off of. After years of myth and secrecy, it will take the deaths of seven naked female volleyball players for the town to finally realize that they have to kill these Nazis...again.
Overall: I had some serious issues getting a good quality dvd version from my dvd rental place (Netflix). Interestingly enough, the dvd always died at the very same point...as the volleyball players get nude. Ironic? I don’t think so. Needless to say I finally scrounged up a good copy and finished it after a few aborted tries. The story is very weak and the make-up & effects are terrible (see video below). It’s just wrong for them to have gone so low budget on the outfits. They pumped all of the money into the underwater shots I think which kept the zombies underneath so long. I liked the dvd option of the “alternate clothed sequences” – there’s not much nudity in the film – actually 3 scenes worth and by the 44 minute mark there’s no more. However when they do show it, they show everything. And I mean everything! (...scroll to bottom of this page for shots...warning, nudity) I don’t think even our nc-17 rating today could show what they did...hell I’m not sure even Playboy shows what they did.
