John Carpenter’s Body Bags (1993)

Trilogy of stories featuring a corpse presenting 3 stories after finding other dead bodies in a morgue.
1) "Gas Station" – Alex just started a new job and has inklings there could be a serial killer loose – but just which customer is it? 2) "Hair" – Richard is unhappy with going bald so he’ll do anything for a full scalp. 3) "Eye" – This baseball player lost his eye in a traffic accident and has gotten a new one transplanted into it – but who was the donor? Overall: The movie isn’t that good despite the plethora of stars. There are the horror directors (Tobe Hooper Wes Craven, Sam Raimi & Roger Corman), the models/singers (Sheena Easton, Debbie Harry, Twiggy, & Kim Alexis) and the "character actors" (Buck Flower, David Nauhgton, Mark Hamill, Charles Napier). The movie is chock full of stars and they all still don’t do very good jobs. I actually liked Carpenter’s acting but the stories have been done better by others. "Gas Station" was done better in "Still Twisted", "Cat’s Eye" story about smoking beats out "Hair" and finally the film "Body Parts" annihilates "Eye." |
