Motel Hell (1980)

Vincent and Ida are running both a motel out in the middle of nowhere and a nice meat-packing business. Visitors to the motel can be treated to both some tasty beef jerky and maybe even a nice sleep…in the garden. See, Vincent is the typical farmer. His tasty meets are made from human flesh and some people plant seeds in the ground to make vegetables; he plants people in the ground to “smoke their meat.” One day though a pretty young thing named Terry is driving by with her boyfriend, who become food for the masses. But Vincent decides to keep her alive, as the daughter he never had. Ida, his sister, gets nervous about this and when Vincent tries to marry Terry, the entire town ends up at war.

Overall: One of the few unique films out there. You can obvious catch the “Psycho” and “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” aspects to this film but it doesn’t copy them too much and does branch out on whole new levels. I gotta recommend this for people who haven’t yet caught the film. It stars 2 playboy playmates as well as John Ratzenberger (Cliff on “Cheers”) and the lady who played “Buelah” in the Porky’s trilogy.

          Comparison: Phenomenon meets Psycho
