Beneath Loch Ness (2001)

Nessie isn’t about to be eclipsed in the horror films lore so she is out to antagonize the Scots…and the Americans. After an expedition to prove the monster exists, a few American benefactors fly out for various reasons to go after Nessie. But even Nessie has a few tricks up her sleeve.

Overall: Like “Octopus,” this film has no convincing underwater scenes. In fact, I’m willing to bet the only true shots of water were the times the boats were on it. Objects in the movie don’t act like they are underwater and that is the biggest giveaway. But the effects are so poor in this movie that they border on “Darkman.” Some films, like “Vampire Femmes” simply have inexpensive and cheap effects. But when u spend the $$ on them, make them look good. Nessie and the canyon shots are so blatantly computer generated...I think you could have purchased that software at Costco. The effects are just terrible. The movie was “filmed” in Scotland supposedly, but the actor’s accents are childish and the repeated mispronunciations of Mason’s name just make no real sense. And what’s with the “Braveheart” make-up? Is this how far Patrick Bergen has fallen? From “Patriot Games” to this movie?

          Comparison: Darkman meets Godzilla
