Stephen King’s Thinner (1996)

Billy is a defense attorney who seemingly will go to any length to help a client. But now the question is, who’s gonna help him? While having oral sex performed on him by his wife, he runs over an old gypsy lady. With his best buddies being the sheriff and the judge, the case is opened and closed before anyone can blink. But Billy has sort of a weight problem and the gypsy father of the dead girl curses Billy with the word “Thinner.” The best weight loss program has started and the pounds almost fly off of Billy but after 100 lbs. lost, this is kind of a concern and soon he realizes the other 2 members of the conspiracy were cursed to and now Billy may resort to do anything to stop it!

Overall: Good movie but lacks some basics the book elaborates on. The film hints at the adultery of the wife but the book really made it more obvious and a greater motive for the ending. In addition, I think the movie didn’t dive in deep enough with the Gypsy curse and other little mobster tie-ins that Billy had. The movie still is decent but the film has holes that the book filled in.

Comparison: Regarding Henry meets Dances with Wolves
