The Catcher (2000)

David Walker is having a bad day. He’s been thrown out of the game, committed a few errors and now is going to be released. The Bakersfield Devils need a new catcher and Walker isn’t the answer. But Walker isn’t going to take this lying down and neither is Johnny Macintosh. Macintosh is looking for revenge for the fact he spent time in an institution for killing his father. Both play the same position, catcher, but are they the same person? Batter up!

Overall: Film isn’t that bad and has some moments of cheesiness. I mean when people are dying due to being "slid into," now that’s funny. The whole bat violation scene was still unnecessary though! Filmed at the Cubs training facility in Mesa Arizona (HoHoKam Stadium), the movie ends with a mock baseball game. Funny stuff!

Comparison: Field of Dreams meets Party Crasher
