The Devil's Nightmare/Succubus/
La Plus longue nuit du diable (1971)

Baron von Rhoneberg has a special secret that he doesn’t want to get out. Seems there is a family curse that ensures the first-born daughter is owed to Satan in return for powers & riches bestowed onto an ancestor back in the 12th century. That daughter will turn into a succubus, a female “vampire” who helps lure men to the devil’s side through nudity. Well the Baron is gonna have 8 visitors on this weekend and one of them isn’t human. He thought he killed his daughter years ago but she’s back and she’s going turn his castle into a blood bath.

Overall: Although rented as “Devil’s Nightmare” on DVD, it can also be found under the title “Succubus" (but do not confuse it with Jess Franco's from 1969). The move goes all over the place with the plot. It’s very slow for the first 60 minutes ands then cruises at light speed for the last 30 minutes. It attempts to have the Succubus kill off the 7 travelers using the “7 deadly sins” but after the first 4 deaths, the sins aren’t very obvious. And if I hadn’t read other people’s views on the sub plotline, I’d have missed it. I’ve caught this film a few times and although I’ve heard the Succubus tell us about the sins, frankly the murders and character flaws of the deceased aren’t obvious enough for me. Apparently, I need Kevin Spacey to “Hit me in the head” for that to get across. Interesting movie, which has the usual Italian lesbianism.
