Frogs (1972)

Jason Crockett’s days of millionaire industrialist may be coming to an end. Seems his family has treated to their summer home for some relaxation and sun but the island gets invaded by thousands of frogs, each day getting closer and closer to the house. One by one they all try to escape the house for fun in the sun and meet their doom at the feet of various arachnids & reptiles. Only an environmentalist photographer can save them…but will he want to?

Overall: Silly film that is surprisingly interesting. Happened to be on cable tv where I saw it and the story is weak, acting not very good, but it is still an amusing film. I just can’t get over how young Sam Elliott (“Road house”) looks – he was 28! Unlike “Sleepwalkers” the attack scenes by the animals aren’t that bad…although no frog ever hurts anyone. All the other animals do the frogs’ bidding. By the tone of the film, you’d have thought it was King of the Jungle. “The Frog, the Thinking man’s Species!”

Comparison: Food of the Gods meets Swamp Thing
