Idle Hands (1999)

Anton is the typical teenager: loves drugs and hates his parents. Anton actually is known for his “mary jane” trips so when his parents go missing, that isn’t a major story. However when he finds them dead, that is the story. He tries to follow the mystery but each step of the way discovers he might be the killer. After his friends end up dead and the girl of his dreams is stalked, he realizes his hand is the culprit but as long as it is attached to his body, he’s going to be a suspect!

Overall: Didn’t realize prior to seeing this film how much emphasis on drugs this films has. I mean marijuana is a major film character and definitely can understand why the trailers de-emphasized this. The effects are pretty good and Devon Sawa shows some acting ability. The failing of the film is the idea of a demon spirit which possesses the hands of the laziest people in society. Of course, the way to defeat the evil demon hand definitely is not for kids – I mean if “Money Train” motivated some people to grab gas cans and burn subway attendants, President Bush won’t be happy with the stats for 2001 in drug use!
