Videodrome (1983)

Max Renn is a small-time cable tv operator who is looking for a show that finally can be called unique. He loves the porn and the nasty stuff but when he stumbles across a show called “Videodrome,” he is hooked. The show is essentially “snuff” that looks almost too realistic but the more involved Max gets in finding out more about it, the deeper he gets into the mind-altering portions of it. This tv show may just kill him!
Overall: Pretty good film that definitely was before its time. It’s a Cronenberg classic with some good effects. Cronenberg’s films back in the day were all able mutating flesh for one reason or another and for that, expect some weird stuff here too. But be prepared that if you get the director’s cut version, this film could be disturbing! Comparison: 8MM meets UHF |
