John and Ricky are brothers who never really got along together, but in the midst of a serial killer terrorizing L.A., John is caught in the crossfire. The L.A. police are convinced the clues point to John, who was killed by a good Samaritan, but his brother, Ricky, disagrees. He decides to investigate on his own using John's own footsteps as his guide. What he finds though could be the greatest serial killer of all-time.
Overall: One of my first r-rated films I saw in the theatres, I think what I built up in my mind over 13 years in this film is better than the film actually is. The plot is weak with many loose ends and complete lack of motive and soon the L.A. police suspect like 5 people, none of which turn out to be the real killer. Spader is pretty good but the cast around him is weak and we all know that films where one person plays identical twins, always suck: see "Dead Ringers," "Jean Claude van Damme's films - he did 2 like this, Jackie Chan's film "Twin Dragons", "Big Business," etc. The film is somewhat interesting but seems more to tread the very same streets and buildings that the film "They Live" did, which helps drift the story away from the plot. Yeah I did say that - figure it out. Comparison: They live meets Bad Influence |
