Lost Souls (2000)

The Devil is not dead, just a bit misunderstood. Maya is a converted possessed being who is not only very religious and devout but also susceptible to demon possession. She's trying to save Henry Birdson from the Devil when a clue appears to what the Devil is trying to accomplish possession himself of a human. Myra meanwhile meets up with a journalist, Peter Kelson , who loves the occult but soon the 2 are connected beyond anything they ever imagined. Peter realizes that the Devil will possess him and must decide if this is all a hoax or a good reason to commit suicide.

Overall: Another devilish horror film in a year with enough: "Ninth Gate" and "End of Days." Winona Ryder does little to distinguish herself and Ben Chaplin's NY accent leaves a lot to be desired. No reason to watch this that can't be seen in "Rosemary's Baby" - I mean watch the film and basically this could be the sequel to it with Peter as Rosemary's kid. Conspiracy and all abound in the film.

I will say however, upon further review...I did like the moral dilemma Ben Chaplin had at one point. Believe her and this choice becomes kill yourself and become what he willl, although wondering in his heart what is true and what isn't.

But then after decisions get made...it isn't so good after that.

          Comparison: Rosemary's Baby meets Exorcist
