A creature buried for hundreds of years has been released and it is looking to reclaim Earth for it's own. But it must go person by person for its food and soon the entire countryside is looking for the beast. It is up to American Howard Hallenbeck to save the U.K.and mankind from this dastardly beast.
Overall: This book should never have been into a film. The monster isn't realistic enough in the film to be believable and the story in the film is too slow and misses a ton of good plot ideas. Basically it is a monster terrorizing the country for food. That's It. Clive Barker's story instead focuses on the monster being once worshipped as a God, having a definite clue as to what it wants, and basically having thoughts of life and happiness which include the death of human beings. The film fails to get any of this across and it seems me like a traditional slasher film and a serial killer all dressed up. The film shows the urination scene on Declan but the book explains why. And the ending per the film and book are very opposite. Sorry but the character of the lost American also isn't in the book - the protagonists are just Brits who are having work done on their house. Read the book, skip the film. Comparison: King Kong meets American Werewolf in London |
