Pep Squad/I've Been Watching You 2: Prom Night (1998)

It is Prom Queen nomination time and Cherry isn't one to be spurned. When she is left out of the top 10, there is revenge on her mind. But the principal is deciding to harass Beth today and when she fights back it is expulsion for sure, unless she can convince him to back off. The only way to do that is to kidnap him and talk sense into him. But this adventure takes a wrong turn because when Cherry finds out she blackmails Beth and Beth's cohorts into having herself elected Prom Queen. But Kara, an enemy of Cherry always knows of the kidnapping and she wants to be Prom Queen too! Who will win? Surely not the principal.

Overall: Not a big fan of this film. This is a dark comedy which beats all dark comedies into a coma. There is so much symbolism and satire, it starts oozing out of everyone's orifi. I found the film lacking humor, a good plot, and basically any realism. And if anything it seems to copy "Teaching Mrs. Tingle."

2/05/2001: I wrote the above in November 2000 and I received some contact with Steve Balderson, the writer & director of the film. He was highly offended with my comparison of his movie to a film released after his (referring to "Teaching Mrs. Tingle"). I was quite harsh to his film but I am not a big fan of spoofy/artsy horror films so that's where I come from. I will pass on to you, Steve's advice to me:
Watch this movie without the volume. You may understand it better.

HaHa. Nice!!! Multiple watchings haven't changed my opinion but I definately thank Steve for his visit.
