Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things (1972)

Alan and his troupe of theatre actors have gone to a graveyard in an effort to raise the dead. Alan thinks he’s found a great book, which could make him invincible and has this need to always show his greatness to his friends. His friends though are more like disgruntled employees as they follow and do Alan’s little dance because he continues to threaten to fire them. But as Alan is about to raise the dead, this may be their last living performance, ever. Because the dead don’t like to be made props and they still know something about revenge –nit is best served cold…blooded.

Overall: I think the best part of the film is the title! I love it! The film though isn’t as inspiring since the acting is fairly drab. The story is too long as is, because it takes well over 1 hour for the first real zombie to show up and it is just a pure blitzkrieg of slaughter from there on. Making this 1970’s film interesting is that all the actors let their real names be character names (hint: Blair Witch Project). It also tends to end exactly as “Zombi 2” did. Both films really try to copy “Night of the Living Dead” and do brutally bad jobs of doing so. Basically these zombies look like people with make-up on – lots of make-up.

Comparison: Night of the Living Dead meets Noises Off
