Textile company heir Wayland is accused of murder of a prostitute named Elizabeth, whose body was found cut in several pieces. The murder is investigated by Detectives Kennesaw and Braxton who know what they are doing but haven’t met anyone like Wayland. A compulsive liar, mentally ill and subject to bouts of violence and epilepsy.
Overall: A very good drama that can be slow at times but it is very psychological. Just when you think the police have the upper hand, the bad guy flips things around. Not sure exactly realistic this film is but it provides good insight into why experts don’t think polygraphs are inherently fair. They aren’t ‘cause they can be manipulated. Go for it with this film. Great job by Tim Roth. Comparison: NYPD Blue meets Rain Man |
