3 young adults are waiting for a friend to leave UCLA so he can come into the mountains for a nice night of ghost stories. But one his way there, Matt, ends up part of the story. Seem in 1959 that there was a biker gang who kidnapped a young woman, named Josie, but then accidentally drove her back to her town where she lived – at an amusement park ghost town. Well her dad, Lucas, got upset and tried to attack them but doing so accidentally got his daughter killed. Flip forward years upon years and while doing excavation under the town, a worker
finds a special crystal which makes things come back to life, or if already alive, grow bigger. And so the old man uses this to bring his daughter back and let her lure strangers into town so daddy can kill them. Well Matt survives that experience but daddy is hot after him. Matt convinces his friends to return to the town so as to save the girl, thinking she’s in danger. But that’s when hell begins because the 4 of them must battle the dad and evil inside Josie.
Overall: Let me start by saying that the 2 lead female characters (not Josie) were just not very attractive. I’m sorry but I thought one of the rules for horror films was to get decent looking women – these were definitely not on the right track. Of course, if they had been better actors, I might not have noticed. But you couldn’t miss the string attached to the bat in the cave. Since when have dead animals floated to the ground and landed softly? Ron Palillo, who played Arnold Dingfelder Horshak in “Welcome Back Kotter”, plays Matt. Everyone else had no careers before and sure couldn’t start them with this film. Ugh! Comparison: Dark Crystal meets Tombstone |
