There is something weird going on at this high school - kids are participating, teachers are teaching and football players care about their grades. Gotta be possess by aliens right? Sure! Only a few students have not been taken over by aliens and they are doing their best to escape the carnage. Casey is the nerd who has no social skills. Stokely is the gothic lesbian who just hasn’t found the right guy. Delilah is the head cheerleader who wants to be number 1 at everything and if that means dumping her boyfriend, so be it. Marybeth is the new girl at school who just wants to make 1 friend. Zeke is the drug dealer who could care less about everyoneand everything. Stan is the great high school quarterback who wants to be respected for his brain! Typical high-schoolers? Maybe, except for the fact these survivors can’t trust each other -- the only way to see if your not an alien, is to inhale some drugs Zeke created out of home gardening equipment. Do the drug and you’ll be too spooked out to fight the alien, don’t do it and you’ll be killed. Nice option! They’ve got to rely on each other or else this town will be merely the beginning to complete earthly
Armageddon.
Overall: The film really seems to be a rip-off of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" - with the twist being young kids as the focus. The film has a simply brilliant cast: Daniel Von Bargen ("Lord of Illusions", "Thinner," and "Silence of the Lambs,"), Salma Hayek ("From Dusk till Dawn"), Famke Janssen ("Lord of Illusions," "Relentless 4," "Deep Rising" and "House on Haunted Hill"), Robert Patrick ("Terminator 2"), Piper Laurie ("Carrie"), Josh Hartnett ("Halloween H2O"), Bebe Neuwirth ("Malice"), and Christopher McDonald ("Thelma and Louise"). So enjoy the cast and the references to every film involving the exact same story. The script should be the reason it shouldn’t have been made - it adds nothing to the idea. The film begins and ends with great actors. That’s it. Comparison: Puppet Masters meets Everbody’s All-American |
