Left in Darkness (2006)

Summary: Celia is trying to enjoy her 21st birthday…unfortunately she never enjoys birthdays. Her mom died during childbirth of Celia and since then, nothing ever happens good on her special day. Trust me…this year isn’t any different. She visits a party and soon ends up dead and date-raped…and not necessarily in that order. And then everything gets a whole lot worse!           Overall: I really liked the ideas of the film. Had a decent plot…not sure we needed Celia raped to have gotten the point that she OD’d and died. But we have some nice ideas with Celia and her “angel” and traipsing through the realm of souls and soul eaters. That’s all well and good. But even with its short running time, the film comes off as slow and long. See our problem is, even with a few flashbacks, all she does is deal with her “Angel” about 5 or 6 times before we finally get to the climax. I wasn’t particularly excited about her performance either…seemed a bit wooden. But as I said, I though the plot was decent and had some good ideas.           Comparison: Jacob’s Ladder meets Lost Souls
