Horrors of Spider Island/Ein Toter Hing Im Netz (1960)

Summary: Gary is looking for a few ladies to go on a dancing tour of Singapore. He starts with a nice casting call which elicits a few buxom ladies. However the plane never makes, crashing on a deserted island on the way there. Unfortunately it’s not totally deserted as there exists these small spider-like creatures, that once they bit you, you turn into them. Now Gary has gotten bit and he’s ashamed of his transformations but he’s not thinking like a human anymore. And the ladies just wanna have fun.           Overall: The original cut of the film was a nice attempt at throwing the audience lots of nudity and hoping they enjoy the film. Some cuts and bad dubbing and this is the final product. You can totally get the idea that nudity abounded, these ladies can’t keep clothes on to save their lives. And yet the most available version of this film has some far-away shots and not much else. What got me was even with a few dead bodies and a scary creature out there, our protagonists still take the time to dance, frolic away their clothes and still get drunk, just enjoying the night. Shame. Of course if they were watching this film, they probably realized our “spider creature” vanished for a good 35 minutes also. Shame…because frankly, without it, no real reason to watch the movie. Silly, bad effects and outside of a few catfights, just a slow film with ladies teasing the audience.           Comparison: Erotic Witch Project meets Outbreak
