The Skeleton Key (2005)

Summary: Caroline has taken a job to be a nurse to a bed-ridden old man, whose wife is too old to care for him. But it’s not all fun and games as the house has its own personality and both of them believe in spirits, ghosts and potions and soon Caroline will be drawn deep into a world of Hoo-Doo and African Magic. The saying is…it can’t hurt you if you don’t believe I it…what happens when you want to stop believing?           Overall: I heard some really bad things about this film, but frankly it was quite interesting. Now, I’ll give you that it’s not all that original. But I still enjoyed it, kept myself entertained, and overall had a good feeling by the end. Had some nice scares, good spooky atmosphere. Kate Hudson did a nice job but the film was stolen by Gena Rowlands and John Hurt. Overall, some really nice acting performances here. I say “go get it” and watch it.           Comparison: Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil meets Angel Heart
