Summary: Prof Richard is a skeptic of the occult and the unknown but one dinner party with a colleague will change all that. Seems his friend, John Wilson, knows a lady, named Helen who can perform hypnosis, which our Professor isn’t such a believer in. But one night with a certain hypnotic suggestion has the professor dying for more. Problem is, Helen gets attached to her mail subjects and soon she’s inside his head and doesn’t wanna let go. As the Professor’s world collapses around him, he’s got only one choice...lose his life or kill her. But the latter won’t be so easy.
Overall: The film kept my attention but I constantly couldn’t get over the fact the film seemed poorly titled. Really the lady is nothing more than a mind-controller…but a “parasite”? Really? Films tends to skim over the effects on the Professor’s life and only shows him ignoring everyone…but we don’t get convinced he’s truly obsessed with this...or even why he is. Sure it seems like a nice parlor trick, but frankly, it’s difficult to believe he got sucked in so totally, so fast. It’s an amusing film though. Comparison: Stir of Echoes meets Scanners |
