Summary: Angela has been having some really bad dreams and only a trip to the Caribbean with other troubled teens will help. But once there, she realizes her dreams involve that very island and these very inhabitants. The good news is, she’ll find a cure to her dreams…bad news is, that might cause her death!
Overall: Time and time again, I get fooled by David DeCoteau. It’s my own damn fault. I heard this quote once and it’s so true for me and this director. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. So...I keep watching DeCoteau’s films, expecting good stuff and constantly find myself with the same rubbish. That means...I’m insane for continuing to watch his stuff. The moderate good news...for me at least...is that I skipped the last bunch of his movies before ending up with this film. Oh...and the other good news is, outside of the beginning, there isn’t that much gay male imagery in the film. So, you get the opening scene as the guy swims back and forth, then showers...but much of the film is all ladies. Now...there is no T&A...again, disappointing...but the ladies have some nice bodies. So I forgive them. As for the story. Nothing new here. And DeCoteau spends much of the film flashing-back to previous scenes. He gets 80 minutes out of 45 minutes of material. Oh...and the character of Angela is no more age 17 than I am…that lady was born in 1977...ain’t no way this 28 year old is passing for age 17. Nor are the others mind you. If I have to say something good about this film…it would be that DeCoteau actually gave the rock group that recorded the songs for the film, a lot of air time. You have entire 4 minute songs playing without interruption. And that’s not a good thing film-wise. Comparison: The Haunted Palace meets The Craft |
