Dead Ringers (1988)

Summary: Beverly and Elliott Mantle are twins, are doctors and run a gynecological clinic in Toronto, which focuses on women’s infertility. The two end up in a relationship with an actress, Claire Niveau, and she is not realizing that the men are swapping for each other and pretending to be one person. But when Beverly falls in love with Claire, this creates problems between he and Elliott. Love may just destroy them both!           Overall: I saw this film originally upon it’s initial VHS release and then again few years later. Even now, I still am not very comfortable with the film. It’s not necessarily that the film is scary (it’s not) or gruesome (it isn’t). But sometime certain subject matters cause the viewer not to be so receptive so the film. I think, for me, it’s sorta just disturbing to see male gynecologists as this perverted. I guess it’s just something I’d rather not know of or think about. Especially since my wife is due to give birth soon. But again, it’s a weird film for sure. It’s dark, disturbing and decadent. And I’m just gonna say..."you have been warned..."           Comparison: Nine Months meets The Dentist
