Buffy The Vampire Slayer (1992)

Summary: Buffy is just trying to live through High School when she realizes she’s gonna have to deal with vampires too. A mysterious man shows up and explains the mysteries of life and vampires to her and after some encounters, she realizes, that this might be her destiny: to slay vampires. But dealing with high school peer pressure might actually be harder than slaying the ultimate Vampire!

Overall: This is an awful film. I saw it in the theatres at the time and frankly, this film totally ruined the tv series for me. It’s way too “light” and “cheesy” and “blonde.” It’s a bad idea from moment one. The film should not have been released as it is because it doesn’t work and it’s not even entertaining. And it’s not funny. It’s just sad.

I will say the best thing about the film is that tv series totally redeemed the write of this script. The film totally bastardized the original script and lightened up an otherwise serious idea. At least all references to the events of the film, during the tv show...used the events from the original script and not the film’s final product.

Some think that Paul Rubens character “works” in this film. Some have said it was a brilliant decision for casting and just has the best dialogue, funniest scenes and redeems the film’s otherwise pathetic script. I will admit…Rubens did a nice job…given the crap that was handed to him. But the film is still awful and soooooooooo not worth watching.

          Comparison: Clueless meets Dracula
