The Devil's Rain (1975)

Summary: Mark Preston is trying to save his family from the Devil and his emissary, Corbis. Seems that Corbis goes all the way back to the 1600’s when he had a book with the names of all his followers, including descendants of the Preston’s. But the book was stolen from him and 200+ years later, Corbis wants one final battle. And the Preston family will give it to him.

Overall: All you need to know is that 1-hour into the film...it still makes no sense. You don’t know any history of the Prestons or Corbis or anyone...and those characters you do get something, still haven’t been explained. You do get some silly “duel” sequences between Corbis and them but frankly, it all makes little sense. By the end of the film, you might understand it a little better...but it’s confusing and contains more than a few holes. And what was with the silly goat mask that Ernest Borgnine wears. That thing truly takes away credibility of this film. What works for the film is the melting sequences. The put $$ into it, and you can tell by all the close-ups. In addition, the film sports 2 true actual Satanists: Anton and Diane LaVey. They founded the first "open" Satanist Church and served as both actors and consultants in this film. Anton died in 1997. You wanna see this film...if you wanna watch William Shatner, John Travolta and Tom Skerritt early in their careers.
