Summary: Catherine Breillat adapts her novel Pornocracy for the movie theatre in this film. We see a heterosexual woman who is confused in her own life and hates men and tries to take her own life. A gay man saves her but inevitabely strikes up a deal to watch her for 4 nights...doing whatever she does...to see if either of them can find meaning in life.
Overall: My website is both dedicated to horror films but also “extreme” films and chalk another one up for Ms. Breillat (A Real Young Girl). This film’s goal is to separate sexuality in the physical sense from the emotional sense. The girl essentially lets herself by used by this gay man for his own pleasures. He does everything imaginable to her body in an effort for the audience to see what if a straight man did the same things, would both the man and woman would be aroused. Yet things being probed, etc. in this instance isn’t arousal. Why? It’s not about who is inserting what into whom or what orifice...it’s about how much can you take. And so we see this woman and man at the ultimate in debasement. Excretions everywhere and orifices be damned...this is a movie that’ll shock most viewers. It’s about analyzing human sexuality and taking it piece by piece. Rent this at your own risk. Comparison: Irreversible meets A Very Young Girl |
